ÍøÆØÃÅ School of Visual and Performing Arts to host guest artist Ellie Jenkins

Ellie Jenkins, DMA, Professor of Music at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia and Artist Affiliate in Horn at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, will present a recital on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall on the ÍøÆØÃÅ campus. Jenkins will be assisted by ÍøÆØÃÅ Professor of Piano Richard Seiler, DMA. Jenkins will also work with ÍøÆØÃÅ music students in a masterclass earlier that day.

ÍøÆØÃÅ inaugural Cultural Arts Fellowship recipient to exhibit work at June Art Crawl

The inaugural recipient of the Cultural Arts Fellowship is Jansyn Jenkins, a junior double majoring in ceramics and psychology at ÍøÆØÃÅ. As a VAPA Cultural Arts Fellow, students are expected to contribute scholarship through creative works and extracurricular exhibitions/performances in city art spaces in partnership with a participating cultural arts organization. In Jansyn's case, this would be a partnership with the Black Creative Circle of North Louisiana. Jansyn's work will be exhibited in the Sugar Gallery (131 Art Alley, Monroe) upstairs studio from June 2 through June 15, and there will be an artist talk at 6:30 p.m. during the June Art Crawl on June 6.

ÍøÆØÃÅ Visual and Performing Arts hires Vitus Shell as assistant professor of art in illustration

ÍøÆØÃÅ School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) is proud to announce the appointment of Vitus Shell as assistant professor of art in illustration. Shell is a mixed-media artist born in Monroe, LA. His works are geared toward the Black experience, giving agency to people from the Monroe community through powerful images of deconstructing, sampling, and remixing identity, civil rights, and contemporary Black culture.
