Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)Ìýin Elementary Education

The MAT program is an online alternative certification and masters program, which prepares mid-career changers, or recent graduates who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a content area outside the field of education to fulfill their dream of becoming a teacher.Ìý The program also collaborates and partners with K-12 districts throughout the state to supply them with highly qualified, certified teachers in high-need areas.

Admission Criteria:

  1. Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher (or a GPA of 3.0 or higher on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework) on a 4.0 scale will qualify forÌýregular admissionÌýstatus.
    Undergraduate GPA of 2.5 - 2.74 (or a GPA of 2.75 - 2.9 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework) on a 4.0 scale will qualify forÌýconditional admissionÌýstatus.
  2. Apply to the ÍøÆØÃÅ Graduate School.
  3. Pass required PRAXIS content exams. It is recommended that you verify your PRAXIS test code with a member of the MAT Program staff first. Visit www.ets.org to register.Ìý
