Dr. Jaya goes over surprising symptoms of menopause and perimenopause, and why women need to know about them. Dr. Jaya McSharma

Dr. Jaya McSharma is a physician, filmmaker, and actress who has produced five short films as well as three successful webseries. She won 鈥淏est Actress鈥 in 2018 at Louisiana Film Prize. Her short films have been featured in over twenty film festivals across the country. By day, she is owner of "Your MD Bestie," a subscription-based medical clinic that practices joy-facing medicine; she is also the medical director of The Philadelphia Center. She is mom to the five best cats in the world, Rose, Neo, Wally, Luna, and Wally Junior; her two rescue dogs, Imzadi and Draco; as well as her human son, Ari. She lives in Shreveport with her producing partner-husband Jacob.听

Dr. Amber Shemwell

Dr. Amber Shemwell

Dr. Amber Shemwell was born in New Orleans and raised in Marksville, LA. She went to college in Pineville at Louisiana College and completed her medical school and residency in Shreveport at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Medical School where she became a Obstetrician & Gynecologist (OBGYN). Dr. Shemwell felt like her entire life was bringing her closer to the place that she now calls home, Monroe, LA. She shares this wonderful life with her husband, Clay and she strives to balance her busy practice while being the best Mom and Stepmom that she can be to Kalani, Malia and Blair. She has a passion for helping women in transitional phases of their lives whether that be puberty, infertility, post-partum, or peri- and post-menopause. Dr. Shemwell was called to be a servant, leader, and a decision maker and this is why she feels so blessed and privileged to practice the art and science of medicine in Northeast Louisiana.

Session 3: "Mythbusters: Sexual Health Edition"听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

How much sexual health knowledge did you REALLY get in school (or anywhere else for that matter)? If you are like most women, you didn鈥檛 get much education around sex or what you got wasn鈥檛 true. Come learn some basic anatomy and dive into a few common myths about women鈥檚 sexual health. This is a laid-back, judgment-free zone, so bring your questions, and let鈥檚 have some fun!

Rebecca Clawson, DMSc, PA-C

Rebecca Clawson, DMSc, PA-C

Rebecca Clawson, DMSc, PA-C was born and raised in Alexandria, LA. She moved to Shreveport to attend Centenary College in 1999, and with the exception of a brief hiatus in Scotland, has lived there ever since. She graduated from the PA program at LSU Health Shreveport, and after working in inpatient cardiology for five years, she transitioned into academia and taught PA students at her alma mater for 9 years. During this time, she also worked in urgent care medicine. In 2023, she earned her Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) with a focus in Medical Education from the University of Lynchburg. She currently works part-time in urgent care medicine and part-time in general practice with a focus on weight loss, hormones, and women鈥檚 sexual health. She is married to her wonderful husband Charlie and has two children, Kathryn and Howard. They keep her on her toes and running in all directions. She is excited to be here today to speak with you about women鈥檚 sexual health.
