ÍøÆØÃÅ, LDCC partner for Food Bank of NELA on MLK Day of Service Monday

On Monday, Jan. 18 ­– Martin Luther King Jr. Day ­– the University of Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana Delta Community College continues the tradition of volunteering together on MLK Day of Service.

For more than 10 years, ÍøÆØÃÅ and LDCC have partnered to assist a local community agency on MLK Day of Service.

This year, ÍøÆØÃÅ and LDCC are collecting items for the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, which faces staggering demands due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Food Bank serves thousands in the region with food and basic necessities.

Donations from the community are welcome and accepted until 10 a.m. Monday.

Ìý

Collection bins at ÍøÆØÃÅ are located in Strauss Hall, first floor, north entrance; Student Life and Leadership office, second floor of the SUB; ÍøÆØÃÅ Library; Activity Center; Coenen Hall and Starbucks.

Ìý

The most-needed items are: peanut/almond butter (plastic jars only), beans (dry or canned), canned meats/seafood, meals in a box/can, boxed cereal, canned fruits and/vegetables, canned soup, bath tissue, paper towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bath soap, and feminine hygiene items.

On Monday, volunteers will take the donations to LDCC for sorting, packing, and delivery to the Food Bank.
