Dr. Nick J. Bruno receives Rambin-Silverstein Memorial Civic Award at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce banquet.

President Nick J. Bruno, Ph.D. was the recipient of the 55th Rambin-Silverstein Memorial Civic Award at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Banquet on February 6, 2020. 

The Rambin-Silverstein Memorial Civic Award recognizes a resident of Northeast Louisiana who has demonstrated achievement, leadership, and service for the benefit of the greater community.

The award was presented by David Hampton, President of Progressive Bank and member of the ÍøÆØÃÅ Foundation Board of Trustees. 

Bruno is a Louisiana native with a 40-year career in Louisiana higher education. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA. He later earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Mississippi. 

Prior to his appointment at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Bruno served at the University of Louisiana System as Vice President for Business Affairs. His previous work included serving as the Vice President of Business Affairs at the University of Louisiana Monroe and as an adjunct faculty member at Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Business.

In addition to his higher education experience, Bruno is regionally and nationally recognized for his consulting expertise. He has conducted numerous professional development programs for national professional organizations.

In 2019, Bruno was appointed to the Board of Advisors for the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Louisiana Campus at ÍøÆØÃÅ. He also serves on the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the St. Francis Medical Center Board of Directors, the Ouachita Business Alliance, the Workforce Development Board Area 81, and the Committee of 100 for Economic Development, Inc. He is a past board member of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce. 

He and his wife Linda have three children, son Steven and daughters Christina and Victoria and grandson, Porter.
