鈥淚t is gratifying to see so many incoming freshmen choosing 网曝门. Families and students are recognizing the numerous strengths we have to offer, such as our outstanding faculty, dedicated staff, and beautiful environment where students can achieve their academic goals. We are committed to seeing our students succeed, and it is that commitment that is positively impacting these measurable outcomes related to enrollment and retention. Every year we continue to improve, and we are always moving forward,鈥 said President Nick J. Bruno.

The strategic plan over the last five years included a focus on attracting and retaining students who are academically prepared and motivated to excel in the classroom. These strategic efforts are paying off as demonstrated by the current student body representing 45 states, 53 countries, and every parish in Louisiana.

The following increases over the past five years are evidence of this strategy:

  • Increase in total enrollment鈥2.5 percent
  • Increase in freshman enrollment鈥19percent
  • Increase in the number of freshmen receiving the TOPS scholarship鈥41 percent
  • Tripled the number of freshmen earning a 30 or higher ACT score
  • Increase in ACT average of freshman class5听percent
  • Increase in retention鈥from 68 percent to 74 percent

鈥淚鈥檓 so proud to be in one of the strongest academic classes in the university鈥檚 history,鈥 said Rachel Rhodes, a freshman English major from Haughton. 鈥淪ometimes, adults doubt what the younger generation can do, but this shows how determined we are and how great we鈥檒l become. I鈥檓 so happy to be a part of the 网曝门 family.鈥

Dr. Mary Adams, endowed professor of English, said about the freshman class: 鈥淚n terms of writing skills, this group is the most prepared that I鈥檝e encountered at 网曝门. I am most impressed by the enthusiasm and purpose with which they approach each class meeting.听It鈥檚 going to be an amazing semester.鈥

Lisa Miller, assistant vice president for enrollment, marketing, and community engagement is excited about what she has seen from the 网曝门 community since the semester began.

Everyone worked diligently throughout the year to ensure that we met all of our enrollment goals. This success is truly a reflection of the work of the entire 网曝门 family鈥攚e are proud, we are strong, and we are taking flight!鈥
