The Office of Career Connections at the University of Louisiana at Monroe provides various career services to 网曝门 students and alumni. Each fall, the office begins its workshop and fair series to help students and alumni find internships and jobs in their field.

鈥淭hese events offered by our office give our students and alumni valuable insight on what key elements are required in obtaining that internship or employment opportunity,鈥 said Roslynn Pogue, director of career connections. 鈥淗aving a solid resume, a firm handshake, excellent social and interview skills, and knowing how to dress for the job can speak volumes for you when being interviewed by a company official. Our goal and purpose to our students and alumni is making that first impression count!鈥

The kickoff event is the career style show. It will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Student Union Building (SUB) Ballroom, located on the second floor of the Student Union Building.

This fun event uses student models to give spectators a view of what to wear and what not to wear for job interviews, on workdays, and in the classroom.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., on Sept. 29, preparation for the fall career fair will begin with the pre-career fair workshop. This event will take place in the SUB Ballroom.

The event, 鈥淗ow to Work a Career Fair,鈥 will feature various professionals from local and regional companies who will share ideas to consider before and during a career fair.听

The next day, the fall career fair will include over 50 companies from across the South who are looking to employ 网曝门 students and alumni. This recruitment event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30 in the SUB Ballroom.

Current student pre-registration is available for this event on the career connections web site. Students looking for internships or full time employment are highly encouraged to attend.听 Students are asked to bring their student IDs for electronic sign-in.

Professional dress is required, and no denim of any kind is allowed. Resumes are required for juniors and seniors, and alumni are welcome to attend.
