The SSS program will be located on campus, and is designed to provide support to underrepresented highereducation students with the end goal of increasing their retention and graduation rates.
"TRiO SSS programs have a proven history of enhancing student success," said President Dr. Nick J. Bruno. "This grant will enable to provide a program for our students that will allow them to successfully reach their academic goals."
The program will offer a comprehensive set of targeted services and activities including academic tutoring, financial and admissions counseling, summer programs, and student mentoring.These services will help ensure that the 140 selected students will remain in good academic standing and graduate within six years or less.
Dr. Catherine Estis, executive director for TRiO programs at , said, “This is a wonderful program to guarantee that students are well equipped with the skill sets necessary to earn their college degree.We provide the additional support needed to set our students up for success.”
An estimated two million students nationwide have graduated from college with the support of TRiO programs.
The SSS program will begin at on Sept. 1.
