Tickets now on sale for May 17 and 19 performances of La Bohème at ÍøÆØÃÅ
The Louisiana Opera (La'Opera) and the University of Louisiana at Monroe Department of Music will present the Giacomo Puccini classic La Bohème for two fully staged performances at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 17, and at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 19, in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall.
The opera will be sung in Italian with projected supertitles in English.
VIP tickets are now available for both performances of La Bohème.
These special $25 tickets will provide preferred recital hall seating, as well as admission to a reception following each performance at ÍøÆØÃÅ's University House, where patrons will have the opportunity to meet the artists.
The cast will include ÍøÆØÃÅ faculty members, including Associate Professor of Music Dr. Claire Vangelisti, soprano, in the leading role of Mimi; Associate Professor of Music Louis Nabors, bass, singing the role of Colline; Instructor Julian Jones, tenor, as Parpignol; and Professor of Dr. Music Matthew James singing the roles of Benoit and Alcindoro. The pianist is Professor of Music Dr. Richard Seiler, and the director is Head of ÍøÆØÃÅ Opera, Dr. Mark Ross Clark.
The opera will feature guests artists as well. Tyler Smith, who recently made his New Orleans Opera debut singing the leading role of Canio in Pagliacci, will sing the role of Rodolfo, the leading tenor.
His wife Betsy Uschkrat, soprano and former Miss Indiana, will sing the role of Musetta.
Jos Milton, voice faculty member from the University of Mississippi, will sing the role of Schaunard.
ÍøÆØÃÅ students will sing secondary roles and in the ensemble with members of the community.
