Speech-Language Pathology graduates earn perfect scores; surpass national average
Students in the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Speech-Language Pathology masters degree program earned their second consecutive 100 percent passage rate on the spring 2012 Praxis exit exam.
According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the national passage rate for first time test-takers is 80 percent.
“Strong passage rates reflect the quality of the program,” said Dr. Johanna Boult, assistant professor and head of SLP
“They are one measure of the readiness of students to practice in the field of speech-language pathology.”
Passage of the Praxis exam means students are eligible to apply for both state licensure and national certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
“Students go on to practice locally and throughout the country, serving clients in need of communication and swallowing services in both schools and hospitals,” said Boult.
