Warhawks documented by British photographer

The Warhawks recently took on an international flair when a photo documentary of the football team and cheerleaders was published in the April 29, 2012 edition of The Sunday Times Magazine, a supplement to The Sunday Times, a national newspaper distributed in the United Kingdom.

Internationally renowned British photographer Lee Strickland spent part of the 2011 season with the Warhawks, photographing and chronicling the highs and lows of the Warhawks’ football season, as well as featuring the athleticism of the cheerleaders.

The result was 'Warhawks', a 132-page photo documentary book, which "documents a devotion to the sport but also a devoted and focused way of life – this is a story about not just the players but the staff, cheer squad, family and friends who are behind them the whole way,” according to a press release about the book.

“Lee’s photography for 'Warhawks' shows not only the journey taken by a group of driven, passionate people but also creates a timeless and inspirational document of the memories they will take with them into their futures and beyond,” the release continued.

A personal project by Strickland, the limited edition book consists of 132 pages, with metallic gold finish on the dust jacket, as well as gold foil on the clothbound hard cover.

Book size is 230 mm x 297 mm (approx. 9” x 11.75”.) Only 100 copies of 'Warhawks' were printed.

'Warhawks' can be purchased at www.warhawksbook.co.uk for £50 GBP or approx. $77 USD, based on the conversion rate, which fluctuates daily.
