hosts University Week for Faculty
The University of Louisiana at Monroe University Week, which helps faculty prepare for the fall 2012 semester, began Aug. 13 and will end Aug. 17.
University Week, which began in 2004, is facilitated by 's Office of Extended Learning and Quality Enhancement.
ELQE has a primary goal of facilitating innovative and effective strategies that support learning.
As part of the Division of Academic Affairs, the ELQE plans and organizes professional development workshops throughout the academic year.
Each session aims to inform and train employees on important learning strategies, updated aspects of university structure, and government policies including Title IX, and ethics training.
“It is always exciting to start a new academic year or semester, and I am truly happy to welcome back our faculty members,” said Dr. Eric Pani, vice president for academic affairs.
“Many people may not realize all that our faculty do, but we need a running start to get everything ready for next week when our students return. University Week provides that start, so it is a busy time for all of us.”
The week’s training sessions will culminate with President Nick J. Bruno’s State of the University Address for faculty and staff at 9 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 17 in Brown Auditorium.
