网曝门 celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week Nov. 7 - 12
Students and faculty at the University of Louisiana at Monore celebrated National Radiologic Technology Week, Nov. 7 - 12, through community outreach.
The national celebration allows 网曝门's radiologic technology department the opportunity to educate the public, said Jaclyn Verret Peters, 网曝门 assistant professor and advisor for Chi Beta Gamma, the RADT professional student organization.
The theme for this year's National Radiologic Technology Week is "One Goal, One Passion: RTs joined in quality patient care." The theme promotes excellent patient care while performing medical imaging procedures with the lowest radiation doses necessary to produce optimal images, Peters said.
"The public needs to know that there are unregulated medical imaging procedures out there being performed by unlicensed and unregistered individuals with no or little formal training in the profession. These individuals are unaware of techniques used to lower patient doses of radiation that are unnecessary."
To help educate the public and the university campus, students created scientific exhibits about medical imaging. Peters delivered a short presentation on the CARE bill and on the newest specialty, radiologist assistant, which is similar to the more widely known physician's assistant.
In the evening of Nov. 8, students of Chi Beta Gamma wrapped Christmas gifts and delivered the presents to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northeast Louisiana.
