Seventh Annual Business Outlook Summit scheduled for April 8

The Annual Business Outlook Summit coordinated by the University of Louisiana at Monroe and the Louisiana Tech University Colleges of Business is coming April 8 at CenturyLink's headquarters on U.S. 165 North in Monroe.

The purpose of the summit is to provide the business community with national, regional and local economic outlooks and a chance for business leaders to discuss relevant economic issues facing our state and region. The program will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

"It also provides a great opportunity for personal and professional networking," said ÍøÆØÃÅ College of Business Dean Ronald Berry. "We appreciate CenturyLink, our own Fortune 500 company, for providing its facilities to us for this important business and community event."

The program, a community partnership, is hosted by the Monroe, West Monroe-West Ouachita and Ruston-Lincoln Chambers of Commerce. For the seventh year, Community Trust Bank is serving as lead sponsor.

J.P. Morgan Chase is providing national speaker, Jim Glassman, Chase's senior economist from New York, who has agreed to provide an overview of the national economy.

Glassman works closely with the company's chief investment officer, commercial banking and government relations groups. He publishes independent research on the forces shaping the economy and financial markets.

Widely cited in the financial media, he is a frequent commentator on economic policy issues.

Dr. Bob Eisenstadt, associate professor of economics and director of the ÍøÆØÃÅ Center for Business and Economic Research, joins John Francis, assistant professor of economics at Tech, for a regional and local outlook.

The two will discuss local tax collections, real estate transactions, retail sales and many more interesting facts.

Additionally, Eisenstadt and Francis will discuss an analysis related to the impact of higher education funding reductions on the region.
