网曝门 named as one of top ten recycling schools by Think Recycle

The University of Louisiana at Monroe has been named the number two recycling school throughout all of the United States and Canada by the fundraising group Think Recycle.

The 网曝门 Child Development Center has participated in Think Recycle since 2007.

This is the first year that the center was recognized in Think Recycle鈥檚 Top Ten List. 网曝门 is the only school in Louisiana to be recognized by the organization.

This program recycles used cell phones, digital cameras, inkjet, and toner cartridges. Once these items are turned in, Think Recycle gives back a portion of the money earned to help fund the center.

Program Director Emily Williamson thinks that the reason 网曝门 was honored this year was due to overwhelming support from many more departments who were willing to participate.

鈥淭his is our best year so far,鈥 Williamson explained. 鈥淭his is a win-win situation for us. We divert a lot of trash from the landfills and help fund our program.鈥

Since the instillation of this program, the center has recycled 3,861 cartridges, 161 cell phones; diverted over 5,100 pounds from the local landfill and raised more than $4,200 over the last four years toward center expenses.

Think Recycle also plants trees to commemorate the recycling efforts of each program.

网曝门鈥檚 support of the program has resulted in the planting of 77 trees since 2007.

The recycling effort operates all year long through drop boxes on campus.

All 网曝门 departments are welcome to contact Williamson at
