ÍøÆØÃÅ student earns prestigious internship

A University of Louisiana at Monroe Mass Communications senior has been awarded a paid internship with the Louis Carr Foundation in New York.

Travious Hall of Bossier City will be working with the Walton Isaacson advertising agency, which touts itself as "The Planet's Most Interesting Agency."

The agency builds Fortune 500 brands through innovative marketing campaigns, and is behind some of the most recognizable ads, commercials and celebrities in the world including Britney Spears, P. Diddy, AXE and Pepsi.

After researching and applying for the internship last November, Hall was granted a phone interview and was notified just a few hours later that he had been chosen as one of 10 student interns.

Although this will be his first trip to New York City, Hall is no stranger to travel, as he is the child of military parents.

"It is all very surreal," he said. "I cannot wait to leave as big an impression on New York as this experience will leave on me."

Things are falling into place for Hall as he aspires to work for Black Entertainment Television upon graduation. The chairman of the Louis Carr Foundation is, coincidentally, the President of Media Sales for BET.

Hall's two-month internship for the agency, where he will be paid a $4,000 stipend, will run from June 6-Aug. 6. He anticipates that this experience will be the first steppingstone to a new career.

"I hope that this opportunity will reinforce the notion that if you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done," Hall concluded.
