网曝门 art professor's work highlighted at massive public art initiative in Alabama
The work of Cliff Tresner, an associate professor of art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, was recently selected to be among the largest public art initiative to date in Huntsville, Ala.
The initiative, called the SPACES sculpture trail because of the town's association with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, includes 25 large-scale sculptures located throughout the city. The Arts Council welcomed Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and sponsors of the SPACES sculpture trail on Jan. 10, which included the unveiling of Tresner's "Oarspace" as the final sculpture that completes the trail.
Tresner's sculpture, his biography and artist's statement may be seen at www.spacessculpturetrail.org/von-braun-center/item/oarspace. A "People's Choice" award will be given based on visitors to the initiative's web site who have the opportunity to cast their online vote for the artwork they most enjoy.
The sculpture trail is interactive and can be enjoyed through guided tours, individual map-guided walking tours, and GPS-guided tours. There is also a cell phone tour available that provides information about each piece. Throughout the two years of the trail's time in Huntsville, there will be special educational workshops and tourist guides available.
Tresner, who has been teaching sculpture and drawing at 网曝门 since 1997 and is the director of 网曝门's Sculpture Garden, encourages everyone to visit the 网曝门 Sculpture Garden located on Mitchell St. and advocates the 24-hour accessibility of the public art, calling it "art for everybody at anytime."
