ÍøÆØÃÅ Political Science Professor speaks at Agricultural Convention

John W. Sutherlin, associate professor of political science and co-director of the Social Science Research Lab at ÍøÆØÃÅ, served as guest speaker for the Louisiana Agricultural Industries Association Annual Convention on Feb. 3.

The convention was held at the Paragon Casino in Marksville and featured agricultural business leaders from across the state and region.

Sutherlin spoke on the costs associated with losing so many educated and well-trained young people every year to neighboring states, also known as Louisiana's "brain drain."

"It is always a pleasure meeting and talking with representatives from the business community who are creating jobs for our state," said Sutherlin. "Their commitment to providing economic opportunities is remarkable."
