Forty-fifth annual Social Studies Fair held at ÍøÆØÃÅ
The University of Louisiana at Monroe hosted its 45th Annual Region III Social Studies Fair on March 16-17 in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
An estimated 1,200 students, parents and teachers from 26 schools in nine northeast Louisiana parishes participated in the 2011 Regional Fair.
ÍøÆØÃÅ dedicated the regional fair to co-director Dr. Harry Hale Jr., a veteran director of the event for more than 30 years.
The fair offers students in grades 4-12 the chance to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the fields of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Louisiana History, American History, World History, Political Science, and Sociology.
"For so many years this university has been at the forefront of outreach in the social sciences," said College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeffrey Cass.
"It is a privilege and an honor to support such talented area students, and I hope they recognize the efforts of faculty members like Dr. Harry Hale, whose recent death saddens us, but whose staunch efforts reflect our ongoing institutional mission of providing assistance to future college students in their initial explorations in social science research."
