Bowie State professor to give reading at ÍøÆØÃÅ April 20
Bowie State English professor Valerie Sweeney Prince will read from her new book The Daughter's Exchange: The African American Woman's Encounter with the Intellectual Marketplace, and show her documentary Second Line.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. on April 20 in Room 134 of the Airway Science Building and is sponsored by the University of Louisiana at Monroe English Department.
The event is free and open to the public.
Second line examines the bond between Prince's husband and his professor, John T. Scott, while chronicling his journey to New Orleans in a struggle to preserve the artistic legacy of his mentor.
Prince earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan in 1998 and has solidified herself as a researcher, filmmaker, teacher and writer.
