ÍøÆØÃÅ cook-off evidence that 2010 football season has kicked-off

The 2010 ÍøÆØÃÅ football season kicked off in yummy fashion with a cook-off contest, held last Thursday, Sept. 23.

Students and faculty demonstrated their skills in the kitchen by entering two categories, grilled food and desserts. Each team prepared one dish for judging, along with several sample-sized versions for delighted participants who strolled along Bayou Park and indulged before the pep rally to support the Warhawks.

Along with the Warhawks 21-20 win against Southeastern Louisiana, the Kappa Alpha Crimson team won first place in the grilled food category with their grilled lemon zest tilapia, twice-baked potato and bacon asparagus wraps.

Kappa Alpha Crimson team members included Brook Sebren, Tyler Plauche, Clint Hairston, Ryan Richardson and John Davis.

The Crews Delight team brought mini-caramel pie topped with whipped cream to the table, and took away an award for first place in the dessert category.

Crews Delight team members included Allee Crews, Briget Millet, Brian Crews and Chanda Crews.

The Cooks Who Care team placed second in both categories with their pork tenderloin stuffed with boudin and andouille sausage recipe as a main dish and caramel apple tart for a dessert dish.

Team members were Kathy Kennedy, Donna Glaze, Linda Reid, Hannah Dooley and Jessie Riley. Cooks Who Care represented the Student Nursing Association.

Cash prizes were given to the winners.
