KEDM Public Radio seeks help with fall fundraising goal

KEDM Public Radio, 90.3 FM, is still seeking about $21,000 to reach the station's fall fundraising goal. Donors become "members" of the station, comprising what the station staff considers to be the most important part of KEDM's funding mix.

An on-air portion of the KEDM membership drive wrapped up Oct. 8, but the campaign will continue until contributions are raised to stay on target for the first half of the station's fiscal year, according to station Development Director Susan Allain.

"Our listeners really came through during a special campaign last June," said Allain.

"We're reminding supporters that we're now in a new fiscal year and need to again raise the amount of local financial support necessary to keep the station strong, to continue providing quality programming, and to satisfy all of our other funding sources. Donations from KEDM members make possible the contributions from all other sources."

KEDM is attempting to raise more of its required funding off the air.

"As a gift to KEDM supporters we kept the on-air drive short, giving listeners more of the programming they enjoy," said KEDM's Station Manager, Joel Willer.

"The trade-off is that we're relying on listeners to take action in a shorter time period. We're also relying on listener responses to messages through other channels. KEDM must still raise the same amount of local funding from its listeners."

Donations to KEDM can be made by calling 800-256-4085 during business hours, or online at kedm.org.

Operated by the University of Louisiana at Monroe, KEDM broadcasts a lineup of in-depth news, Classical, and Jazz. Signature programs on KEDM include Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Performance Today, Car Talk, A Prairie Home Companion and Marketplace.
