网曝门 Division of Theatre and Dance to present Cabaret Nov. 4-6
The 网曝门 Division of Theatre and Dance will present the globally showcased musical Cabaret at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 4-6, in 网曝门鈥檚 Brown Theatre.
The production is open to the public. General admission is $15. 网曝门 Students, faculty and staff are allowed one free ticket with 网曝门 identification.
Tickets will be available during school hours in the Visual and Performing Arts office, Biedenharn Hall, Room 105. They will also be available one hour before each performance in the Brown Theatre lobby.
Cabaret is most widely known for its 1972 film version featuring Liza Minnelli. The production includes tales of war, politics, love and heartbreak and features well known tunes such as "Cabaret鈥 and 鈥淒on鈥檛 Tell Mama.鈥
The show鈥檚 director, Professor Kyle Zimmerman, provides the following synopsis: 鈥Cabaret takes place around 1931, shortly before the Nazis took control of Germany. It is a story about a young American writer who falls in love with a burlesque dancer named Sally Bowles in Berlin. There's also a sub-plot about a Jewish fruit shop owner who falls in love with his landlady.鈥
Performers include Elizabeth Bennett, Caleb Wilkins, Justin Hawn, and newcomer Alyssa Flowers. In addition, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeffrey Cass will also appear in the role of The Emcee.
网曝门 faculty involved in production include Dr. Deborah Chandler as pit conductor, Dr. Mark Clark as the production鈥檚 vocal coach, Professor Robin Stephens as choreographer and VAPA鈥檚 Technical Director Wesley Smith, providing lighting and set design.
Cabaret鈥檚 music director is Julian Jones, a master鈥檚 degree graduate of 网曝门鈥檚 Division of Music. Marcy Hall, costumer for Strauss Theatre, is providing realistic and colorful costumes of the era for the production.
