网曝门 College of Pharmacy Student recognized for exemplary research

The president of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists recently presented four students with awards commemorating their contributions to the pharmaceutical sciences, including a College of Pharmacy student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

President Danny D. Shen presented the awards after a Plenary Session of the 2010 International Pharmaceutical Federation Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress in New Orleans. Mohammed Khanfar, a graduate student who performs ground-breaking cancer research in Dr. Khalid El Sayed's laboratory at 网曝门, was one of the recipients.

The AAPS Graduate Student Symposium Award in Drug Design and Discovery was sponsored by SuperGen. Khanfar was joined by students from the University of Pittsburgh, University of Mississippi, and University of Maryland.

"The Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences is extremely proud of this recognition of the important work that our students undertake to improve human health," said Department Head Dr. Karen Briski. "This prestigious award highlights the meritous research activities that support a role for 网曝门 in advancing Louisiana's competitiveness in the drug development/delivery arena."

Dr. El Sayed, noting that Khanfar recently defended his doctoral dissertation and earned the doctoral title, said his research was further recognized by its publication in the top medicinal chemistry field journal, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. The research may be found at:

"The College of Pharmacy is very proud of our graduate students and the research they do," added Interim College of Pharmacy Dean Benny Blaylock.

"Dr. Khanfar, under the direction of his major professor, Dr. El Sayed, is an excellent example of the outstanding research our students conduct here. We congratulate him for receiving this distinguished award."
