Highway Commission recognizes work of 网曝门 Police Department and 网曝门PD officer

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission recently recognized the work of the University of Louisiana at Monroe Police Department and one of its officers with dual awards in Baton Rouge.

Corporal Jackson Brackett was recognized along with other law enforcement officers from across Louisiana at the Second Annual LHSC awards luncheon at the Crowne Plaza. The awards recognized outstanding officers for continued efforts to remove impaired drivers from state highways.

Brackett was honored with a commemorative plaque/shadow box medal display for his exemplary enforcement of driving while impaired laws. He was recognized as the top enforcement officer employed by a university police agency in Louisiana.

网曝门 Chief of Police Larry Ellerman accepted a plaque distinguishing the 网曝门PD as the top university department in Louisiana for its enforcement of driving while impaired laws.

Chief Ellerman, who accompanied Brackett to the awards ceremony, expressed his pride in the public service performed by Brackett and other officers at 网曝门PD.

鈥淥ur goal is to keep our university community safe by removing impaired drivers who may kill someone through a crash or other means,鈥 he said. 鈥淗aving seasoned professional officers like Corporal Brackett on our staff promotes a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors at 网曝门.鈥

Chief Ellerman recognized the contribution by the Louisiana State Police鈥檚 Applied Technology for the implementation of 网曝门PD鈥檚 Intoxilyzer 5000 machine, which is instrumental in providing a safe and convenient environment for testing of impaired drivers. The facility is located at 网曝门 and is accessible not only to 网曝门PD, but to any area law enforcement agency for testing.

Each year impaired driving kills more than 400 people in Louisiana and is a contributing factor in almost half of the traffic crashes and in the commission of other crimes, according to state highway commissioners.
