Criminal Justice Department to assist in “Citizen Surveys” in June
The University of Louisiana at Monroe is assisting the West Monroe Police Department in conducting a “Citizen Survey” this June. Criminal Justice Department representatives will join West Monroe police officers and graduates of the Citizens Police Academy to collect the data.
The police department is required to conduct a survey of its citizens once every three years to maintain national accreditation. The 15-question survey covers basic background information, perceptions of the community, contacts with the police department, and experiences with crime.
Surveyors will go door-to-door in residential communities and at area businesses to collect information. Surveyors will have identification, will not solicit any form of payment, and are only to ask the questions contained in the survey form.
The surveys will also be conducted through mailings and phone contacts.
Survey dates are June 10 – 12 and June 24 – 26. The survey will also be available on the West Monroe Police Department Web site at www.wmpd.net beginning June 10 and will stay online through June 26.
