VAPA performances fill April calendar
The Visual and Performing Arts Division at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will present the Faculty Artist Concert Series at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 11, with "An Afternoon in Paris,” in the Fountain Room at the Biedenharn Museum, located at 2600 Riverside Drive in Monroe.
Dr. Mark Clark, baritone, Coralie White, piano, pianist Dr. Richard Seiler and Dr. Sandra Lunte, flute, are featured performers in a program by French composers. Tickets are $10 and are available at the museum. Call 318-387-5281.
Mark McCleery, 's instructor of cello, will perform at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall with Seiler accompanying. Their repertoire will include Bach's "Adagio," Beethoven's "Sonata in A Major, op. 69" and Shostakovich's "Sonata in D Minor, op. 40." The concert is free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, April 14, the String Quartet will take the stage in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall, performing "Crisantemi" (Chrysanthemums), an elegy for string quartet by the operatic composer Giacomo Puccini, and also will join in a performance of a piano quintet by the composer Karl Reinecke. The quartet is under the direction of Dr. Jason Rinehart.
On Thursday April 15, at the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall, the Low Brass Ensembles will perform, under the direction of Dr. Micah Everett.
