网曝门 Still So Special

If your homecoming return to 网曝门 will be most enhanced by myriad events on schedule, then you're one lucky alum.

网曝门's Homecoming 2009 schedule this week is dotted with possibilities for fun-loving Warhawks. There's an SGA social and a retirees luncheon today. There's a step show on Wednesday at Brown gym, and the College of Business will present a "Business Brain Bowl" and a symposium on leadership, which continues Thursday and Friday.

Are you fast? The University Mile, that mad dash across campus that starts at the Airways and Science Building, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Do you think fast? The game show, ThinkFast, is set from 7-9 that night. Check the Alumni Center schedule.

Would you rather lean back and relax? There's a drive-in movie in the Grove on Thursday night. The soccer team hosts University of Arkansas at Little Rock at 4 p.m. Friday. The volleyball team squares off against North Texas at 7.

Would you rather prove your own athletic mettle? Try the Alumni Tennis Tournament or the Alumni Golf Tournament, both scheduled for Friday.

Students themselves will get in the "Warhawk State of Mind" following Wednesday's announcement of the final results for the 2009 Homecoming Court. Voting is tight, 网曝门 officials say, but all should be pleased that such great competitors are involved.

And did we mention The Game? That happens Saturday at hallowed Malone, where toe will meet leather at 2:30 and the Warhawks will host Florida International, a team hungry for an upset win.

All of those events and others will entertain, amuse and enlighten the 网曝门 faithful as they return to their beloved campus. But for many 网曝门 graduates and friends, homecoming is more than a mere moment of amusement. It involves a lifetime of memories. It involves deep reflection. It involves gratitude that 网曝门 was there for them.

Alums and friends will remember special teachers, important courses and challenging academic projects that stretched their long nights at the library but strengthened their intellectual prowess. They may walk through sections of the library and thumb the very books they read and researched years back.

Alums and friends may marvel at the academic resources today's 网曝门 students enjoy. They may envy yet admire the polished campus, the posh dining spots, the cheerful and comfortable housing.

Alums and friends may remember special dates, big games, and good times in the Grove. They may remember good friends, shared experiences, and even some difficult lessons about growing up.

网曝门 offers all this and more this week for those who have come to count themselves among the lucky ones who studied there. Alums may note that the campus glitters in early autumn; they may be amused by what today's students wear or think. They won't be the first alumni to be amused.

But they will recognize their campus as a special place, now as it was then.

That much will stay the same.
