JRCERT approves maintenance of accreditation for Radiologic Technology
A national accrediting agency recently approved major curriculum revisions instituted by faculty of University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 Radiologic Technology program.
The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology said 网曝门鈥檚 Radiologic Technology program could maintain its accreditation through 2014, following its recent curriculum overhaul. Program Director Brett H. Bennett said revisions to the curriculum were vital, given the shift to digital technology in that field.
Bachelors of Science Degrees in Radiologic Technology are conferred to students trained in the art and science of creating diagnostic images in radiologic examinations.
The program had already received a full eight-year accreditation in 2006, according to Bennett, but because of the major revisions to its curriculum 网曝门 had to receive approval to maintain its accreditation through JRCERT.
网曝门鈥檚 Radiologic Technology program has been in existence since the 1970s and is the only such program in northeast Louisiana. The program is also one of only four in the state and one of only 35 in the country, according to Bennett. The changes put the 网曝门 program in compliance with the standards set by the American Society of Radiologic Technology, he said.
鈥淲ith the change to digital imaging, we wanted to be proactive in the design of our curriculum,鈥 said Bennett. 鈥淚 believe we have one of the strongest four-year programs available now.鈥
