Stevens awarded at LACUE Leadership Luncheon
Dr. Rick Stevens, associate professor of psychology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently received the Region VIII Post-Secondary Educator of the Year award from the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators. Stevens and other winners were honored at the group’s Leadership Luncheon on Dec. 3 in Baton Rouge.
Margaret Henderson at the Region VIII Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, located in Strauss Hall, nominated Stevens, based on his use of technology in the classroom, particularly of the online socializing tool “Second Life.â€
As the region’s selection, he was also a finalist for the statewide Post-Secondary Educator of the Year award.
LACUE is a statewide professional organization with more than 9,000 members. Its goal is to recognize and promote the use of computers in education in Louisiana.
