Rebekka Armstrong featured in Leadership Workshop Series Sept. 23

The Leadership Workshop Series, sponsored by the Office of Student Life and Leadership and the Campus Activities Board, will feature former “Playboy” Playmate, HIV/AIDS awareness activist and competitive bodybuilder Rebekka Armstrong Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Brown Auditorium at 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

Armstrong, herself HIV-positive, is also a safer sex educator and a spokeswoman for several HIV-related charity groups. In “Exposed,” she conveys the seriousness of being responsible, and that despite popular conceptions of a Playmate’s wild sexual life, she likely contracted HIV from a relatively normal teenage encounter.

She also discusses making the most of one’s life, with the example of her interest in bodybuilding, even with her condition. Armstrong’s career has seen her place first in the middleweight category of the 2004 Los Angeles Bodybuilding and Figure Championship and go on to other triumphs.
