2008 Homecoming Queen announced
ÍøÆØÃÅ’s 2008 Homecoming Queen is Warlana Brooke Woods, the daughter of Warren and Andrea Woods. She is a senior family life and child development major from Jennings. She and Homecoming King DeMarcus Wayne Nash, the son of Patricia and Ronald Nash, were honored at ÍøÆØÃÅ’s Pep Rally Thursday night. The homecoming court will be recognized during Saturday’s homecoming game against North Texas.
Woods’ honors and activities include Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., ÍøÆØÃÅ Dance Repertory Ensemble, Student Louisiana Early Childhood Association, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She was nominated by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and will be escorted by her father, Warren Wood.
Nash is a senior pre-physical therapy major from Shreveport. Nash’s honors and activities include president for NAACP, PREP Staff for 2006, Campus Activities Board, and 31 Ambassadors. He was nominated by Alpha Phi Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha and will be escorted by his mother, Patricia Nash.

Kelsi Auldyn Crain, the daughter of Creg and Tana Higdon and the granddaughter of Willie and Dot Crain and of Ronnie Higdon, is a freshman kinesiology/physical therapy major from Monroe. Crain’s activities and honors include CAB, 2008 Ouachita Parish Jr. Miss, senior class president of Ouachita Parish High School, Ouachita’s Lion Pride Award 2008, and Louisiana Delta Ballet. She was nominated by CAB and will be escorted by her father, Creg Higdon.
Ambrea Alexis-Marie Walker, the daughter of Carl and Toneka Terry, is a freshman pre-pharmacy major from Edgard. Walker’s activities and honors include the ÍøÆØÃÅ Maroon Platoon and ÍøÆØÃÅ Repertory Ensemble. She was nominated by the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and will be escorted by her father, Carl Terry.
Chlo’e Kiara Rogers, the daughter of Kelvin and Gearldette Rogers, is a sophomore health care management/marketing major from Crowley. Rogers’ activities and honors include 2008 PREP Staff member, 2008-2009 Hawkseeker, ÍøÆØÃÅ Creed Committee, CAB, and FRYS Peerleader. She was nominated by the PREP staff and Hawkseekers and will be escorted by her father, Kelvin Rogers.
Cherrelle Carroll, the daughter of Dalnie and Yvonne Carroll, is a sophomore dental hygiene major from Kingston. Carroll’s honors and activities include Maroon Platoon, the NAACP, Association of Women in Science, College Democrats, and Phi Tau Gamma. She was nominated by Phi Tau Gamma and the NAACP and will be escorted by her father, Dalnie Carroll.
Verlencia Danielle Jordan, the daughter of Ray and Verlena Jordan, is a junior pre-pharmacy major from Monroe. Jordan’s activities and honors include Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Kappa Mu Epsilon Math Honor Society, second year as officer of ÍøÆØÃÅ Hawk Line, historian of Pre-Pharmacy Organization, and a ÍøÆØÃÅ Student Involvement Scholarship. She was nominated by the Theta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the ÍøÆØÃÅ Hawk Line and will be escorted by her father, Ray Jordan.
Chelsea McDowell, the daughter of Sonji McDowell, is a junior elementary education major from Baton Rouge. McDowell’s honors and activities include Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and manager for the ÍøÆØÃÅ Women’s Basketball Team. She was nominated by Delta Sigma Theta and Omega Psi Phi and will be escorted by Lionel Wallis.
Whitney Yvone Golston, the daughter of Cathy Davis and Roy Cary, is a senior kinesiology/pre-physical therapy major from Shreveport. Golston’s honors and activities include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Association for Students in Kinesiology, the NAACP, and North Louisiana Big Brother Big Sister Program. She was nominated by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and will be escorted by her father, Roy Cary.
Christy Marie Mandarino, the daughter of John and Cindy Mandarino, is a senior kinesiology/physical education major from Tioga. Mandarino’s honors and activities include Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, A.S.K. and service as its 2007 vice president, 31 Ambassadors, and the ÍøÆØÃÅ Softball Team in 2006. She was nominated by 31 Ambassadors and A.S.K. and will be escorted by her father, John Mandarino.
