Christmas at to bring holiday cheer Nov. 18

Everyone is invited to Christmas at , scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. in Scott Plaza.

The public is invited to attend this fun-filled holiday celebration sponsored by the Student Government Association. Santa Claus will be in attendance, with treats for the children, arriving via the new Acemobile. Ace will also be there with candy for all.

SGA President Micah Pulliam will emcee the event.

Included in the festivities are Christmas carols sung by a gathering of over 135 university choir members, led by Dr. Deborah Chandler, director of Choral Activities. The Brass Choir, conducted by Marilynn Gibson, will also perform. The finale will be the annual candle lighting ceremony, with “Silent Night” specially presented by the Concert Choirs and faculty soloists.

The winners of the giant-sized Christmas Card Contest will be announced. The SGA will present a Christmas gift to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. The Mortar Board National Honor Society will present a check to an outstanding non-traditional family for a Christmas surprise.

President James Cofer will pull the switch for the annual tree and candle lighting ceremony. Further singing will help usher in the holiday season. Refreshments will be provided.

The event will directly follow the annual Employee Holiday Reception in the Conference Center (Library, seventh floor) from 3–5 p.m., hosted by President and First Lady Deborah Cofer.
