Noe Laine to donate an original “Battle Hymn of the Republic” manuscript to March 17

Linda Noe Laine will donate an original, authenticated manuscript of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," written in Julia Ward Howe's hand, to Monday, March 17 at 10 a.m. in the University Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the Library.

Her attorney has confirmed that while it is an authenticated, original manuscript, it is not necessarily the original. Ms. Laine also acquired and framed a rare photograph of Julia Ward Howe. Both the manuscript and the photograph will be donated to .

A student choir will perform the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Media and the general public are welcome to attend the event. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
