LSBDC at ’s summer offerings to include “QuickBooks for Beginners” and “Advanced QuickBooks” workshops
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will offer two workshops concerning QuickBooks during the summer.
“QuickBooks for Beginners” will occur Saturday, June 21 and June 28, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Administration Building, room 3 – 51. There is a $100 per person fee (book included).
The workshop answers the question,”Now that you have QuickBooks, what do you do?” This class will provide eight hours of hands-on instructions in using the many features of this computer bookkeeping system. The workshop will focus on how to set up QuickBooks using the chart of accounts and how to input data correctly for cash, inventory, accounts receivables and payables, sales taxes, credit cards, fixed assets, and reconciliation of checking accounts and credit cards. Experience with QuickBooks has shown that individuals who set up QuickBooks and learn how to input data properly are more likely to keep accurate and up-to-date records. Failure to set up and enter data correctly often leads to problems for record keeping.
The instructor will be Chris Thrash of Little and Associates.
“Advanced QuickBooks” will occur Saturday, Aug. 9 and Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Administration Building, room 3 – 51. There is a $100 per person fee (book included).
This is a continuation of the “QuickBooks for Beginners” class. It expands and goes into an in-depth discussion on entering data on employees and payroll, 1099s and 1099s dealing with subcontract employees, monthly reports, year-end reports, business taxes, job costing, and segregation of business and personal items.
All learning is done with one person per computer. Participants must have a basic working knowledge of computers. These classes will not cover basic computer skills.
Registration is a must for both workshops to ensure availability of computers and books. You may attend both workshops for a $170 per person fee.
