Second annual Northeast Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics Mini-Conference to occur at Feb. 16

The second annual Northeast Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics Mini-Conference will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 in ’s Hemphill Airway and Computer Science Building. Mathematics teachers from this area and surrounding parishes will share, learn, and discover unique techniques that will inspire students in the classroom.

Numerous talented speakers from northeast Louisiana will focus on various strands of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and probability, and will cover a range of grade level expectations.

Mini-Conference participants will be able to select from several presentations such as: “Elmo, the Furry Red Puppet, Teaches Statistics,” “Math in the Movies,” “Literacy in the Mathematics Classroom,” and “Do YOU Sudoku?” Not only will this be a networking opportunity for pre-service, elementary, and secondary teachers as well as mathematics teachers from institutions of higher education, but participants will also be able to earn up to three one-hour Certificates of Participation, which may contribute to their continuing education requirements.
