LSBDC celebrates 25 years of service with a program honoring area small business owners Feb. 21
Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) celebrates 25 years of helping entrepreneurs build their businesses at an event on Thursday, Feb.21 at the 网曝门 Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the 网曝门 Library. A special program starting at 6 p.m. will honor outstanding small business owners.Special guest Congressman Rodney Alexander will deliver a proclamation honoring LSBDC鈥檚 25 years of service and economic impact on Louisiana.
Patty Witty of Louisiana Economic Development, Community Outreach Services Division will also deliver a proclamation.
Recipients of the LSBDC Small Business Star award are: Paul Meeks of Tallulah, owner of Great Day, Inc., which manufactures ATV accessories; Taji Helaire and brother, Chiolce Helaire, of Natchitoches, owners of P.A.C. LLC which is a construction company; and Yasuko Makishi of Shreveport, owner of Craters & Freighters, which is a packing, crating, and shipping business.
The LSBDC is an award-winning network of nine centers statewide, offering free, confidential, high-quality consulting to help small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed. During the past six years, LSBDC has helped businesses create nearly 6,900 jobs. The very first Small Business Development Center was started at what was then Northeast University. In 1983, the statewide LSBDC network was created after a grant was written by Dr. Paul Dunn of the College of Business Administration and other supporters.
