ÍøÆØÃÅ CODI students continue to exceed national exam pass rates
The Communicative Disorders program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is proud to announce that 100 percent of its M.S. students scheduled to graduate in May 2008 have passed the national certification exam in speech-language pathology.
This pass rate exceeds the national average of 78 percent, which includes persons taking the exam up to three years following graduation.
Individuals are required to take and pass the examination before they can be nationally certified as speech-language pathologists. Working in settings such as hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, clinics, and private practice, speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat persons with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, fluency, and related disorders/differences of communication.
Dr. Judy Fellows, department head of Communicative Disorders, praised faculty and staff for their phenomenal work. "The ÍøÆØÃÅ Department of Communicative Disorders continues its tradition of preparing outstanding professionals to work as speech-language pathologists in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation agencies, nursing homes, and private practice. I appreciate the hard work by all of the academic and clinical faculty, as well as the staff. Their outstanding teaching and supervision continue to make this program the best in the area.â€
The M.S. program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Clinical services are provided to the public through the ÍøÆØÃÅ Speech and Hearing Clinic. Contact the clinic at (318) 342-1395.
