faculty empower Louisiana teachers to learn on demand

The College of Education and Human Development announces eTEACH: education for everyone, everywhere.
The initiative allows novice and veteran K-12 teachers to obtain National Board Certifications, Professional Development, PRAXIS Preparation and Advanced Placement Programs through online, blended, distance, weekend, evening and on-site classes. The on-site classes will be conducted in the schools and at .
“Teacher and school district leaders are ecstatic to learn how to continue their education in the convenience of their own homes, anywhere they are on-the-go, or the option of customized programs taught at their schools— anywhere in Louisiana,” said Dr. Rochelle Gilbert, Director of Teacher Initiatives for .
College of Education and Human Development Dean Dr. Sandra Lemoine said, “With little or no travel required, Louisiana teachers can have more time to continue their education and obtain certifications at a new level of convenience and flexibility."

This is the second major development from 's College of Education and Human Development in recent months. was recently named the state's premier provider for the Louisiana Leader Fellows Program, which will train talented teachers, specifically in high-poverty areas, to become qualified administrators.
Out-of-state and non-affiliated external reviewers recognized for its ability to "develop an innovative model that will effectively address the unique needs of the students and geographically-dispersed areas." The initiative will provide school districts with funding to train and certify its best teachers to become highly-qualified principals, assistant principals and district leaders.
