Legan speaks to Northeast Genealogical and Historical Society

M. Scott Legan, professor of history and interim head of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s department of history and government, presented a paper before the Northeast Genealogical and Historical Society Sunday, May 13 at the Ouachita Parish Public Library, Main Branch.
 
The paper was entitled "'Hang by the Neck Until Dead': The Trial and Hanging of a Member of the 22nd Texas Cavalry (Dismounted) in Monroe, Louisiana in 1864."
 
This presentation was Legan’s last as a representative of ; he will retire at the semester’s conclusion May 19. “After 39 years in the classroom at , I think it is time for me to ‘go to the house,’ but I have enjoyed working at the university and have had a successful career.”
