College of Health Sciences Student Council presents over $2,700 to Susan G. Komen Foundation
Amber Robertson, president of the College of Health Sciences Student Council, presented a check for $2,794.95 to Dr. Carlos Fandal, representative of the Northeast Louisiana Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and a professor of foreign languages, on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Council members organized the softball tournament. Students from each of the departments played to raise funds for the Komen Foundation, seeking to increase awareness of breast cancer. The money was raised by selling T-shirts for the annual tournament, the “Battle of the Sciences.”
“We hope this contribution can help make a difference,” said Robertson, also a nursing student from Rayville.
The College of Health Sciences Student Council is comprised of student representatives from each of the disciplines in health sciences; nursing, radiologic technology, dental hygiene, occupational therapy and communicative disorders.
