Matthews attended classed on the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale with authors Thelma Harms and Cathy Riley. Williamson attended the institute last year and was trained in the ECERS-R.
She has been selected by the Louisiana Department of Education to coordinate the rewrite team for the Louisiana Comprehensive Preschool Curriculum, currently being rewritten to be more integrated, use more language strategies, and be more user-friendly. Like the original version, this revised curriculum will be correlated to the Louisiana Department of Education's Grade Level Expectations. The completion date is scheduled for January 2008 when the rewrite teams' draft will be released to teachers across the state.
