Bontty to present "Mysteries of Mummification" May 3

Monica Bontty, Egyptologist and professor of history, will present “Mysteries of Mummification” Thursday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Natural History.

Bontty has a history of offering unique events to educate the public about Egyptology subjects.

She and Chuck Rand recently spoke at a Chautauqua Nexus entitled “Ancient Egyptian Beer and Beer Brewing” April 19, which focused on the history of beer in Egypt along with its various uses (medicine, ritual and daily life).

Bontty also decided to give five of her students the opportunity of a more hands-on history lesson by way of a visit to Egypt Dec. 18 – 30.
