Bry Art Gallery currently showing the Tenth Annual ÍøÆØÃÅ Art Students' Juried Competition

The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently showing the Tenth Annual ÍøÆØÃÅ Art Students' Juried Competition.

Submissions to this competition were juried by retired art faculty member Ron Alexander, who curated the exhibition. Alexander in turn selected the award winners.

Receiving the Gretchen Dean Best of Show Award was Heath Work with a polychromed plaster sculpted head. The Alumni Award of Excellence for a polyptych portrait acrylic painting was presented to Michele Kuhn. The Division of Art Award went to Stephanie Jordan in recognition of her figurative collaged etching. The Alumni Award in Graphic Design went to Ryan Moris for a digital graphic. Alexander presented a special Juror's Award to Kate Yancy for a portrait color photograph. All winners in these categories received a cash award.

Merit Awards for art supplies from Databank were received by Stefan Nodarse, Michele Kuhn and Misty DeLeon. Art supply awards from national distributors went to Emily Brown, Travis Reuther and Heidi Korrodi.

Awards not chosen by Alexander included the Photography Award received by Richard Gentry and Megan Rushing and the Art History Award received by Rushing and Brad New. Brown and Reuther received One-person Award Exhibitions in the Narthex Gallery of Northminster Church.

President James Cofer has leased works from Kelli Sims and Jordan to be displayed in his offices for a year; Kaylen Persick and Gentry have leased works to Provost Stephen Richters; New and Keeli Cutrer have leased to VAPA Director Keith White; and Gentry and Moris have leased works to the Campus Activities Board.

The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council has given cash stipends to Joni Dollar, Karen Robinson, Reuther, Will Robinson and Jordan to assist in the construction of works in the ÍøÆØÃÅ Sculpture Garden.

The ÍøÆØÃÅ Art Faculty chose Erica Hijazi, New, Reuther, Karen Robinson and Rushing to receive Beverly Jean Marvin cash awards for art supplies.

The exhibition will continue through May 3. Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and from 8 a.m. – noon on Fridays.
