U.S. Marine Forces Reserve Band to Play July 4th Concert at 网曝门
The United States Marine Forces Reserve Band - New Orleans will present a concert, free of charge and open to the public, Monday, July 4, at 2 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Families are welcome to come celebrate the 4th of July before and after the concert in the Grove area South of Malone Stadium with several activities for kids of all ages.
The band is comprised of fifty enlisted Marines. The program will be selected from the Band's varied repertoire, to include familiar marches, traditional classics, patriotic favorites, New Orleans jazz, and popular contemporary music.
The United States Marine Forces Reserve Band - New Orleans was established October 1, 1978. Under the operational control of Marine Forces Reserve, the unit is comprised of active duty Marines stationed at the Naval Support Activity Base in New Orleans, La.
Each year the musicians of the Band travel throughout the entire United States, performing more than 250 concerts, parades and ceremonies, entertaining over 6,000,000 people. The Band is composed of a Ceremonial and Concert Band, Jazz Combo, and Brass and Woodwind Quintets. The Band supports all units of the Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Fourth Marine Division, Force Service Support Group, and Marine Corps Reserve Support Command. Additionally, these Marines are often called upon to provide musical entertainment in support of the Marine Corps Recruiting and community relations programs. With an authorized strength of 50 active duty Marines, the Band has performed at many recognized civilian events, including the Texas State Fair, the Fiesta Days Celebration in San Antonio, Texas, Flag Day Celebrations in Troy, New York, and the Fourth of July Celebration under the arch in St. Louis, Missouri. The Band also performs annually in New Orleans Mardi Gras balls and parades.
Marine Forces Reserve Band - New Orleans is currently under the leadership of Warrant Officer Forest Brown, Band Officer; Master Sergeant Christopher Krueger, Band Master; Staff Sergeant Travis Antoine, Drum Major; Staff Sergeant Richard Dengler, Enlisted Conductor; and Staff Sergeant Scott Seely, Small Ensemble Leader.
