College of Business Administration Honors Outstanding Students

The College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe held its 35th Annual Honors Banquet recently to honor outstanding students in the College of Business Administration.

Students receiving College and departmental awards were:

David M. Yellott, accounting major from Lake Charles, received the College of Business Administration Distinguished Scholar Award, Outstanding Graduate in Accounting and Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Senior Award.

Bryant J. Miller, management major from Winnfield, received the College of Business Administration Dean's Award and Outstanding Graduate in Management.

Mignon C. Begnaud, computer information systems major from Cecilia, received the College of Business Administration Outstanding Graduate Award and Outstanding Graduate in Computer Information Systems.

Zdravko Markov, finance major from Bosnia, received the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award and Outstanding Graduate in Finance.

Master of Business Administration Outstanding Graduate Awards were presented to Eray Guven, Turkey, for Fall 2002; and Mark Bragg, West Monroe, for Spring 2003.

Other nominees for the College of Business Administration Outstanding Student awards were Kelly Bucewicz, marketing major from Australia; Brandi L. Durand, accounting major from Monroe; Thomas A. Finley, computer information systems major from Calhoun; Sherry H. Hamilton, accounting major from Oak Grove; Yamuna Lee McGuire, marketing major from Monroe; Melissa Pham, computer information systems major from Monroe; Adam M. Piskozub, economics major from Poland; and Amanda C. Tatum, general business major from Monroe.

Departmental award winners, their majors and hometowns are:

Trinitee G. Hattaway, accounting, Farmerville, the Harry M. Bell Memorial Scholarship Award; Lawson D. Fall, accounting, Alexandria, the Institute of Management Accountants, Shreveport Chapter, Outstanding Accounting Senior Award; Adam M. Piskozub, economics, Poland, Outstanding Graduate in Economics; Amanda C. Tatum, general business, Monroe, Outstanding Graduate in General Business; Alma Zic, economics, Bosnia, Outstanding Student in Economics; Amy B. Pearson, finance, Farmerville, Outstanding Student in Finance; Emery L. Prince, insurance, Monroe, Bill Sanders Outstanding Insurance Student Award; Tracy J. Smith, insurance, Monroe, Bill Sanders Outstanding Insurance Student Award; Kelly Bucewicz, marketing, Australia, Outstanding Graduate in Marketing; Christie L. Messinger, computer information systems, Bastrop, Association of Information Technology Professionals Outstanding Student Award; Leslie A. Rucker, marketing, Columbia, Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Award for Fall 2002; and Darron L. Underwood, marketing, Monroe, Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Award for Spring 2003.

Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honorary fraternity for collegiate business students, selected its outstanding students as well. The Kitty DeGree/Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Junior Scholarship was awarded to Stephanie A. Gibson, accounting, Monroe; Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding MBA Graduate was presented to Eray Guven, Turkey; and the National Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship Award was presented to Nicholas Drew Vidrine, accounting, Delhi. Named as Chapter Honorees were Sue Edmunds, West Monroe Chamber of Commerce, West Monroe; and Sol Rosenberg, Sol's Pipe and Steel, Inc., Monroe. Faculty members inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma this year were President James E. Cofer Sr., Provost Stephen P. Richters and Dean Kenneth E. Clow.

Faculty in the College of Business Administration who are retiring this year are Dr. Arthur L. Bethke, Dr. Joseph A. DeFatta, Dr. James T. Hood and Dr. Lawrence R. Jauch.
