网曝门 Students Help With Local CP Telethon

Students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe are among the many volunteers helping with the Annual Cerebral Palsy Telethon to be held at the West Monroe Convention Center this year. It's set for March 22, from 4-10 p.m., and March 23, from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Students from 网曝门's Occupational Therapy program, Nursing program and other organizations are gearing up to help in this yearly event that raises money.

"As an Occupational Therapy Assistant student, I am honored to have the privilege to participate in a telethon that raises money to help special children experience an improved quality of life," said Shavonda Walker, 网曝门 student.

"The CP telethon is an excellent opportunity for OT Assistant students to get involved within the community while helping to raise money for needed equipment," said Leslie Wright, Occupational Therapy Assistant student at 网曝门.

Another student sees the telethon as an educational experience as well as a way to help. "As an OT Assistant student, this experience will help me further my education through interacting and gaining insight about disabilities and the struggles that individuals with CP have to endure," said Cheri Leonard, Occupational Therapy Assistant student.

Debra McBroom Gaar, Northeast Louisiana representative for Cerebral Palsy of Louisiana said, "During this troubled time with our country, let us remember our troops, our President, and their families. There are many service men and women that have children affected with the condition of Cerebral Palsy. This is an opportunity to help aid the children of those men and women who are serving our county as well as all of those affected with Cerebral Palsy."

"We thank all of those at 网曝门, Neville Interact Club, Louisiana Tech and all of our many volunteers this year. Thank you for your supporting the children of Cerebral Palsy," said McBroom Gaar.

The event will be televised live on LCTV (CH 6) and the public is invited to attend. Local entertainment will also be provided.
