Outstanding Faculty Honored at Awards Reception
Faculty Honors Week at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is an annual event that recognizes faculty excellence in teaching, research and service. The 2003 Faculty Honors Week was scheduled for March 31 through April 3.
The Outstanding Faculty Award recipients for 2003 as announced by the 网曝门 Alumni Association are: College of Arts and Sciences, Arts: Dr. Helen Lock, associate professor of English; Science: Dr. Jose L. Cordova, associate professor of computer science; College of Business Administration, Dr. James T. Hood, professor and head of the department of accounting; College of Education and Human Development; Dr. Mark S. Doherty, associate professor of kinesiology; and College of Health Sciences, Dr. Paul W. Sylvester, associate professor and B.J. Robison Endowed Professor of Pharmacology.
Each of these professors will be recognized at the Faculty Honors Awards Program held tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the University Conference Center on the 7th floor of the 网曝门 Library. Everyone is invited to attend.
On Tuesday afternoon, from 4 -6 p.m., the annual Promotion and Tenure reception was held at the Anna Gray Noe Alumni Center. This was the first of many events scheduled throughout the week. 2003 Promotion and Tenure Awardees are as follows: Promoted to Professor: College of Arts and Sciences, Janet V. Haedicke, English; William C. Hoefler, Jr., Agriculture; and Gary L. Stringer, Geosciences. Promoted to Associate Professor: College of Arts and Sciences, Michael A. Camille, Geosciences; Lon A. Smith, Computer Science; Clifford W. Tresner, Art; Paul A. Washington, Geosciences; Holly L. Wilson, History and Government; and College of Health Sciences, Marvin K. Schulte, Pharmacy. Receiving Tenure: College of Arts and Sciences, Stephen P. Fox, Chemistry; Christopher G. Michaelides, Foreign Languages; College of Business Adminstration, James T. Wood, Computer Information Systems; College of Health Sciences, Margaret M. Meredith, Occupational Therapy; Paul W. Sylvester, Pharmacy; and University Library, Melinda F. Mathews, Library.
Also on Tuesday from 2颅4 p.m. the Outstanding Faculty Panel Discussion was held at the University Conference Center on the 7th floor of the 网曝门 Library. The Student Research Symposium was also held this week on Wednesday at The University Conference Center .
