Three Big Weekends Instore For 网曝门's "Reclaiming Our Campus"
The "Reclaiming Our Campus" effort at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is going strong as three big weekends are in the works. This Saturday, July 13th, at 7:30 a.m., a group of 41 volunteers from the West Monroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce are scheduled to help. Next weekend, July 20th, the 网曝门 Athletic Booster Club is set to clean up athletic areas on campus and a group from College Place Baptist Church will help in academic areas; and on Saturday, July 27th, all 网曝门 Alumni are asked to come out and join in with the "网曝门 Alumni Paint Day".
Each week (unless otherwise noted) groups will assemble at Sherrouse Hall by 7:30 a.m. and will move to the other locations from there. The workday ends at 11:30 a.m. Anyone and everyone from 网曝门 or the community is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt.
If you are planning to participate in any of these events, please call 342-1750 and give your name to Clara. Please RSVP by e-mail to Nancy Davis (fodavis@ulm.edu) at the 网曝门 Alumni Relations Office if you will be able to help with the "网曝门 Alumni Paint Day." Names for all events are needed ahead of time so there will be enough supplies on hand for helpers.
This Saturday, volunteers will work in the lobbies of Ouachita and Slater Halls and will also be painting the 3rd floor of Ouachita Hall. There will also be pruning around Garrett Hall. Members of the Garrett family will be on hand to help.
"There has been a lot of progress made to this campus strictly from the volunteer work through "Reclaiming Our Campus". For instance, we have made substantial progress on Sherrouse Hall and the area behind Brown Hall. The building looks great and the improvement is impressive. Completing this work ahead of schedule means we can move on to Hudson Hall and others very soon," said Dr. Eric Pani.
"For the month of June, we had approximately 450 person-hours donated to 网曝门 on Saturday mornings. Thanks to all of you who helped accomplish this," said Pani.
Many groups from the community have been helping including Chase Manhattan Mortgage; Boy Scout Troop 99; 网曝门 faculty, staff, and students; the United Way, The News-Star a youth group from North Monroe Baptist Church; and various others from the community.
