Last semester following the events of 9/11/01, the Chautauqua Nexus hosted a public forum on Terrorism, War, and Peace. At that time, they committed themselves to providing educational services in order to help people have patience in times of uncertainty. This Friday's meeting will help people learn about several viruses, bacteria, and fungi along with a limited number of chemicals.

Saturday, Feb. 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Oliver road in Monroe, hear from Peter Elias, local business man, Dr. John Knesel, 网曝门 Associate Professor of Biology; Blair David, 网曝门 Associate Professor of Agriculture and Farm Manager; and others as the nexus hosts a luncheon entitled "Colors of Monroe". There is a $3.00 recommended donation to cover lunch costs with residual going to nexus Beautification Fund. Last semester, Dr. Joe McGahan, 网曝门 Professor of Psychology and organizer of the Chautauqua Nexus, outlined the movie, "Pleasantville" and discussed the concept of color in it's own right, and as a metaphor for culture, relative to 网曝门 and the City of Monroe. Since then, a group of approximately 10-20 students volunteered their time on a number of occasions to develop the grassy area beside Strauss Hall into "a People's Park." Additional ideas to "beautify" the 网曝门 campus, as well as the City of Monroe, will be introduced by Joe McGahan and Peter Elias at this luncheon.

Again on Monday, Feb. 4th from 6:30 till 8:00, 网曝门 Graduate John Brandin will present "Uncle Tom's Cabin: Revisited." John Brandin will conduct a round table discussion to explore the roots of racism in America, including how the respective attitudes of slave owners and abolitionists influenced our current views, regardless of our ethnic origins.

These weekly meetings are informal conversations attempting to connect people of all ages who are interested in intellectual and cultural exchanges. The Chautuaqua Nexus meets every week on the second floor of the Student Union Building on the 网曝门 campus (unless otherwise noted) beginning at 4:30 on Fridays or Saturdays. There are no requirements and everyone is invited to come. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Visitors are welcome to make a small donation for refreshments.

All media welcome.
